Remove the motherboard from your HexBright LED Light.

Edit Step 1 Interior Frame  ¶

  • Holding the outer case firmly in one hand, twist the nut on the rear of the HexBright counterclockwise.

Image 1/2: Slide the interior frame out of the HexBright. Image 2/2: Slide the interior frame out of the HexBright.

  • Continue twisting until the threads on the interior frame twist free from the outer case.

  • Slide the interior frame out of the HexBright.

Edit Step 3 Battery Removal  ¶ 

Image 1/1: The battery is held in place by a plastic shim, and this shim will dislodge when the battery is knocked out of the frame.

  • In order to remove the battery from the interior frame of the HexBright, you will be knocking the interior frame firmly against your palm.

    • The battery is held in place by a plastic shim, and this shim will dislodge when the battery is knocked out of the frame.

Image 1/3: If the battery does not come out at first, try knocking a bit more vigorously. Image 2/3: Do your best to catch the battery and plastic shim as they fall out. Image 3/3: Do your best to catch the battery and plastic shim as they fall out.

  • Holding the interior frame from the side nearest the positive side of the battery, knock the opposite end of the interior frame sharply against the palm of your hand.

    • If the battery does not come out at first, try knocking a bit more vigorously.

  • Do your best to catch the battery and plastic shim as they fall out.

Edit Step 5 Desoldering the LED Leads  ¶

Edit Step 5 Desoldering the LED Leads  ¶ 

  • Desolder the two LED power wire connections.

  • Refer to this desoldering guide to disconnect the two LED power leads from the LED board.

  • Remove two 20 mm Phillips #1 screws securing the positive terminal block to the motherboard.

  • Gently pull the positive terminal block out of the interior frame of the HexBright.

  • Remove two 5 mm Phillips #1 screws securing the motherboard to the internal frame.

  • Pushing from the side nearest the negative battery terminal, push the negative side of the motherboard out of the internal frame.

  • Carefully pull the motherboard towards the front of the Hexbright so that the button on the rear of the motherboard clears the rubber button cover.

  • Pull the motherboard away from the internal frame, guiding the LED cables through their hole as you go.

  • Remove the motherboard.
